How to Recite The Holy Rosary

This article will teach you how to pray the Holy Rosary with the prayers included. Use the photo below as a guide as to which bead to hold while you are praying. Click on the photo so you can see an enlarged photo of the beads. Use the blue beads as guides.

Instructions

1. 

   Hold the cross of the rosary and make the sign of the cross while saying "In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."

2. While still holding the cross recite The Apostles Creed: I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, And is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

3. While holding the first blue bead recite the Our Father: Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, On earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread, And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

4. On each of the next three silver beads recite a Hail Mary: Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death.
   Amen.

5. In the space after the three silver beads but before the second blue bead recite Glory Be To The Father: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

6. On the second blue bead (this is the beginning of your first decade) recite the Our Father: Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, On earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread, And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

7. On each of the next 10 silver beads recite a Hail Mary: Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death. Amen.

8. In the space after the 10 silver beads but before the next blue bead (this is the end of the first decade) recite Glory Be To The Father: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

9. Start the next decade by reciting the Our Father on the next blue bead, then say a Hail Mary on each of the next 10 silver beads then recite Glory Be To the Father in the space after the 10 silver beads. Continue in this manner until you have gone through all 5 decades. Going around all the beads once (5 decades) is one chaplet.

10. After the chaplet recite Hail Holy Queen: Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

11. To complete an entire rosary you must go around four times for a total of 4 chaplets (20 decades). After your first chaplet is complete, start again at Step 6 and complete Steps 6 through 10 four more times.

12. When you have completed the entire rosary (or after every chaplet) hold the cross of the rosary and make the sign of the cross while saying "In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."
