Try this crisp, tangy cole slaw recipe for yourself, and you'll be sure the Colonel's secrets somehow got out!
Cole slaw goes great with so many main dishes- from a fancy baked ham, to hot dogs and burgers or steak, or enjoy it alone for a healthy vegetarian lunch. And, don't forget to serve it the next time you make fried chicken!

Things You'll Need

  • 8 cups finely chopped cabbage
  • 1/4 C carrot, shredded
  • 1/3 C sugar
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/8 t pepper
  • 1/4 C milk
  • 1/2 C mayonnaise
  • 1/4 C buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 T white vinegar
  • 2 1/2 T lemon juice
  • A food processer or mini food chopper is helpful, but not necessary

Instructions

      Cut cabbage and carrots into very small pieces, no larger than grains of rice. I prefer to practically shred the vegetables in a mini food chopper.

      In a large bowl, combine: sugar, salt, pepper, milk, mayonnaise, buttermilk, vinegar and lemon juice.
      Mix well, until smooth.

      Add the cabbage and carrots to the creamy cole slaw dressing mixture. Mix very well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving, as this will marry and enhance the flavors.

      Best served chilled.
      Stored in a tightly covered dish, this cole slaw will keep for up to 5 days.
