How to Make Homemade Stretch Mark Oil

Stretch marks occur when the skin is under tension, either from pregnancy or an increase or decrease in weight. Homemade stretch mark oil can help diminish the appearance of striae, as they're called in dermatology, but nothing can completely get rid of them. With proper application, an oil rich in vitamin E and other beneficial ingredients can significantly reduce the visibility of embarrassing stretch marks. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Combine 1/2 tsp. each of wheat germ oil, sesame oil, vitamin E oil and camellia oil in a small mixing bowl. Mix the oils with a wire whisk to combine the ingredients thoroughly. Each of these oils will improve skin elasticity, which will prevent future stretch marks and help diminish those that already exist.

    • 2

Add 4 drops of rose essential oil and 2 drops of rosemary essential oil to the bowl. Whisk to combine. These essential oils not only add fragrance to the stretch mark oil, but they also lend their skin-softening properties to the mixture.

    • 3

Place a small funnel into the top of a small, dark-colored glass bottle. Pour the stretch mark oil into the bottle, remove the funnel and secure the lid in place. A screw-on lid is best for this application. Label the bottle with the contents, and store it in a cool, dry place until you're ready to use it.

    • 4

Apply a few drops directly to the affected area and rub in with your fingers using a circular motion. Allow the skin to fully absorb the oil. Repeat twice per day until the desired results are achieved. You should see a decrease in visibility of stretch marks within two weeks, but you may continue using the stretch mark oil as long as necessary.

Tips & Warnings

  • Combine the ingredients in a mixing bowl with a pour spout, or use a small measuring cup, to make the transfer of the stretch mark oil to the storage bottle easier.
