Things You'll Need:
- Potatoes
- Frying pan, skillet or griddle
- Food processor or chopper
- Knife
- Butter
- Non-stick cooking spray
- Seasonings
- Spatula
- Serving dish
-
Step 1
Food chopperGet out a food processor, chopper or any other device that dices food.
-
Step 2
Wash potatoesWash the potatoes thoroughly. I use a brush to scrub them under running water. One small potato will yield one serving of hash browns.
-
Step 3
GriddlePlace the frying pan on the burner of the stove.
-
Step 4
Spray on Non-stick cooking oilSpray the pan with non-stick cooking spray.
-
Step 5
Turn the burner on, low to medium heat.
-
Step 6
Slice the potatoes into sections.
-
Step 7
Sections in chopperPlace the potato sections into the food chopper.
-
Step 8
Diced sectionsTurn the chopper on. Leave on until all of the potato sections are diced.
-
Step 9
Pour potatoesDump the diced potatoes into the frying pan.
-
Step 10
Spread the potatoes with a spatula into a uniform layer covering the pan.
-
Step 11
Add butterAdd butter while the potatoes are cooking. This gives them a buttery flavor. If you are trying for lower fat hash browns you can spray with butter flavored non-stick cooking spray. When I use the spray I repeat several times while the hash browns are cooking.
-
Step 12
Season to taste. Options include adding salt, pepper, diced onions or diced peppers. Use your imagination and create your own unique flavor!
-
Step 13
StirStir, flip and turn numerous times with a spatula while the potatoes are cooking. Do this until the majority of the diced potatoes are a golden brown.
-
Step 14
These are done!Turn your stove's burner off.
-
Step 15
ServePlace on a serving dish.
-
Step 16
Enjoy!
