If you suffer from the itchy skin rash known as eczema, you probably know to avoid anything that can dry, or irritate, the skin. But did you know that essential oils can help heal eczema? Bergamot, chamomile, lavender, and patchouli are four of the best essential oils for treating eczema.

      Choose one of the four essential oils listed to the right.

      Prepare the essential oil for application to the skin by mixing it with a carrier oil. The best carrier oils for this application are jojoba, avocado, or apricot kernel oil. These oils are very nourishing to the skin. Combine 20 drops of essential oil with 5 tablespoons of carrier oil in a dark colored glass bottle.

      Rub the oil onto the area with eczema in a gentle circular motion. Do not pull or tug at the skin. Apply 3 times per day, or as needed.

      Store the oil in a cool dark area.
