How to Repair Husqvarna Chain Saws

The bottom line: repairing your own tools saves you money. All you have to do is buy replacement parts, make the repair and get back to work. Husqvarna chain saws run well, but when they begin to run poorly, two different repairs may be all that is required to get them running again: cleaning or changing the air filter and cleaning, gapping or replacing the spark plug. A dirty air filter may encourage extensive engine damage, and a dirty spark plug will decrease the performance of the machine. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

  1. Air Filter

    • 1

Remove the air filter cover. Shake and brush any dust, dirt and debris off of the air filter.

    • 2

Wash the air filter thoroughly with dish soap and warm water. Scrub surfaces with a soft brush. Rinse the air filter off with warm water and shake off the excess water. Allow the air filter to dry.

    • 3

Replace the air filter and make sure that it sits tightly against the rubber seal.

    Spark Plug

    • 4

Disconnect the spark plug wire and move it aside. Remove the spark plug with a spark plug socket and a ratcheting wrench.

    • 5

Wipe any carbon deposits off of the electrode end of the plug with a clean cloth rag. If the spark plug is showing signs of wear, replace it with a new plug. Check the gap space to be sure it is set at the recommended 0.020 inches.

    • 6

Reinstall the spark plug with the spark plug socket and ratcheting wrench.

    • 7

Reconnect the spark plug wire to the spark plug.
