How to Pay an Old Bill From BellSouth

Since the merger of AT&T Inc. and BellSouth in 2006, AT&T has provided BellSouth customers with the same wide selection of payment options offered to any AT&T customer. With payment options online, via phone or in person and customer support for past-due amounts, paying an old bill from BellSouth need not be difficult and only requires that you keep in mind that as with any type of bill payment, you will need your account number or log-in information to make your payment.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always write down your payment confirmation number with the date and time that you logged the payment online. Then confirm that the payment posted within five to 10 business days by checking your online AT&T account as well as with your bank, credit union or credit card lender. Ask for the payment or customer service agent's name and operator ID number when dealing with any agent about your payment. Follow up on your payment or any issues with your old bill with an agent by phone or email by asking the agent for a follow-up phone number (plus extension if applicable) or an email address. Keep up with monthly bills by using the AT&T automatic bill pay option.

  • Many companies charge a "convenience," "processing" or "agent assistance" fee when you pay in person at a payment center or with a payment or customer service agent over the phone. Always ask the agent if a fee applies and if any free payment methods are available to you in your situation. Never mail a check or money order on an old bill without first contacting customer service at AT&T to find out if your preferred payment method is the best method to use for your specific situation.
