How to Get Windows Vista on a PSP

Microsoft Windows Vista is an operating system that was created for use on computers and not other devices like a Sony PlayStation Portable. However, a group of modifiers has created an application specifically for the PSP that looks and behaves like Windows Vista. It has the graphics and many of the applications that appear on Windows Vista, and the small size of the installation file ensures that it won't hog all the space on your memory stick.

Things You'll Need

  • PSP firmware version 3.93 or higher
  • USB cable

Instructions

    • 1

Download the pspWvista .zip file from the BlazeByte.org download page. Save the file to your desktop so that it's readily accessible.

    • 2

Unzip the file to your desktop and make sure all the contents are in a single solder. You can name the folder "pspWvista" or something similar so you don't confuse it with the .zip file when you try to transfer it to the PSP.

    • 3

Turn on the PSP and connect the USB cable to it and the computer. Set the PSP to USB mode to prepare for the transfer.

    • 4

Click on "My Computer" and then click on the drive designated for your PSP to open it.

    • 5

Click on the folder with the PSP Windows Vista operating system in it (the one you created in Step 2) and drag it to the PSP drive. Now the folder is copied to the PSP's root directory.

    • 6

Exit USB mode and enter "File/pspwvista/index.htm" to load pspWvista on the PSP.

    • 7

Press the "Triangle" button to bring up the menu screen.

    • 8

Press the "X" button on "Tools" and then press it again on "Settings."

    • 9

Press "X" on "Home Page Settings" and on "Use Current Page." Confirm your choice to set pspWvista as your home page by hitting "OK." Now the Windows Vista operating system will appear as your default starting screen.

Tips & Warnings

  • Upgrade your PSP firmware before you install pspWvista or it may not work. Firmware version 3.93 is required, but the program will have a higher chance of working with a higher firmware version.
