How to Disassemble a RV Toilet
Disassemble an RV toilet to make needed repairs or as part of a winterizing process. It can be done in about 10 minutes and you will need relatively few tools. There are only four areas of the toilet that may need to be removed, cleaned and/or replaced to keep your toilet functioning well. This is, however, not a job for the squeamish.

1
Turn off the water to your RV. Open all the taps and flush the toilet until there is no more water left in the system.
-
2
Reach behind the toilet and locate where the water connection screws into the RV toilet. Using a box wrench, loosen the fitting and disconnect the water hose. Be careful not to let the water hose fall back into the wall of the RV or you will have a difficult time getting it back to reconnect the toilet.

Gently rock the toilet back and forth while pulling it up to break the center seal and remove the toilet from the bathroom. Take the toilet outside so you have more room to work.
-
5
Use a box wrench to dissemble the toilet. Start by removing the inflow regulator (where the water hose connects to the toilet) from the feed tubes that run into the body of the toilet.
-
6
Turn the toilet upside down and unscrew, by hand, the rubber gasket seal at the bottom.
-
7
Disassemble the flushing linkage with a pair of pliers while the toilet is upside down. Take the pliers and remove the linkage spring, then unscrew the retaining screws and remove the flush assembly.

Tips & Warnings
Spread some old towels on the bathroom floor and along the path you will carry your toilet through the RV. This way, any remaining grey water or sewage that may drip from the toilet will not damage the interior of your vehicle.
Always wear rubber gloves when working with your RV toilet system to prevent any contact between your skin and waste materials.
