How to Build a Getaway Cabin
Building your own cabin is challenging and you need to have basic carpentry skills. Building permits are required in most areas of the United States. Take your construction plans to your local county office to have them approved and receive a building permit.

Select the area on the property that will provide you with easy access to public utilities if you are not building an off-grid cabin. Clear the area of trees, brush and other debris.

Dig below the frost line to place the cabin foundation. The frost line is the depth in which frost permeates the ground. Concrete needs to be poured while the weather is cool and dry so that it sets evenly.

Install the flooring over the foundation. Construct the frame and roof according to the plans that accompanied your kit. Install wiring and plumbing prior to finishing the interior walls.
