Make Guide Strips for a French Manicure
Make Guide Strips for a French Manicure

I've never been to a Nail Salon. Ever since I could polish my own nails...I have. This is an inexpensive way to get that Salon Look at home, without buying those French Manicure Kits or the Nail Guide Tape they sell at the stores. The supplies for this cost about $5.00 and will last a few months....so definitely..well worth it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

My favorite Nail Polish is the 'Love my Nails' brand. It is sold at Walmart for 99 cents each. I find it is quick drying and long lasting, and I have tried a lot of different brands of polish.

  2. Step 2

The 'Love my Nails' Colors I use are:

    Base/Top Coat Polish - #510
    French Peach - #1594
    White - 556

  3. Step 3

First, Using sharp Scissors cut thin strips from your Electrical Tape. These strips should be no shorter than one inch.

  4. Step 4

The Electrical Tape works great because it is flexible, sticks well and doesn't leave a glue residue on your nails.

  5. Step 5

Apply your Base Coat to clean and filed nails. After that is dry, apply a coat of your neutral color polish. Allow to dry.

  6. Step 6

Next, take your Electrical Tape strips and apply to nails. (You can stick them on, and if you don't like the way you placed it, just pull it up and reposition until it's exactly where you want it.

  7. Step 7

Now, it's time for the White Nail Polish. I usually pull the tape off When I finishing polishing each nail. But if you feel more comfortable waiting for it to dry, that's fine too.

  8. Step 8

After that is dry...apply the Top Coat. That's it you just saved yourself...some money : )

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you letting each coat of Nail Polish dry completely, before apply the next coat.
  • If you do get polish on your skin around your nail, just use a Q-tip & Nail Polish Remover to get it off.

on 10/5/2009 Neat idea, thanks so much. That will save me some money. My daughter goes nuts looking for ways to french manicure her nails. I just can't justify the money to get it done by a professional for a 14 year old. Thanks!
