Look for refurbished computers from a well known computer tech that fixes computers at his home. They often sell refurbished computers as well. They often work as good as new or are even better. It varied in different areas, but you may be able to buy a one cheap, for just $75!
If you do not know of anyone that fixes computers, ask around. Ask your friends and neighbors, it is great to get referred to a trusted tech!

Look on Craig's list.
You can look for a computer here, if you do not see any for sale, go to the computer repair section and email someone who is repairing computers from his or her home. Ask if they have any for sale!Ask if he is willing to bring it to you and set it up, to be sure it is working perfect. Make sure while they are still there, prior to paying, you try to go onto the internet, just be sure it is working fast enough and running well.

Look on Ebay!
With Ebay, you have the luxury of checking feedback first. Check to see they have had many sales (of anything, doesn't just need to be computers) and make sure they have good standings. 99.2% or more is usually good. You may find a new, used or refurbished computer.
Good sellers with good standings do not scam anyone. You will pay with Paypal and be protected that way, as well, if something isn't working properly. If there is a problem though, simply contact the seller, they are usually willing to offer a resolution.
