Having zero odor in your garbage cans is important to good health and living with general everyday trash. A garbage can with zero odor is one that is clean and sanitary. There are some simple steps you can take to ensure you have zero odor in your garbage cans.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take inside trash to outside holders on a daily basis. Empty holders have zero odor because there is nothing spoiling or decomposing in the bins.

  2. Step 2

Mix 1 part bleach with 4 parts water. Fill a spray bottle. Thoroughly wet the inside of the can with the solution. Allow to sit for 30 minutes. This will help you to get zero odor and kill germs. Complete this step weekly or anytime anything seeps from the liner into the can to maintain zero odor in the cans.

  3. Step 3

Place a liner in the can for zero odor control. Liners keep the plastic from absorbing odors. They make it easier to dispose of trash on a daily basis.

  4. Step 4

Rinse containers such as empty canned food items, drinking jugs and pop cans to maximize zero odor control. You’ll end up with a cleaner can and less chance of gnats or other bugs. Not only do you have zero odor, you have a more sanitary container.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be cautious not to use bleach around children or pets.
