Things You'll Need:
- Knowledge of the early signs of pregnancy
- Knowledge of when your last period was
- A pregnancy test
-
Step 1
Figure out if your period is late. Count the days since your last period, using the day you started bleeding as day one. Most women have a 28 day cycle, but this varies from person to person. Keep in mind that some women still get their periods while pregnant. (Usually they experience lighter or shorter periods.)
-
Step 2
Assess how you feel. Are you extra tired, are you experiencing dizziness, or does your back ache? These could be signs that you are pregnant.
-
Step 3
Monitor the number of times you use the bathroom. Frequent urination can be an early sign of pregnancy. This usually begins around 6 weeks after you conceive.
-
Step 4
Pay attention to nausea. Morning sickness is a telltale sign of pregnancy, caused by hormones and other changes in your body. Morning sickness does not always happen in the morning; some women feel nauseous all day. Conversely, some women do not feel sick at all during pregnancy.
-
Step 5
Feel your breasts. Very tender and swollen breasts can be an indication that you are pregnant.
-
Step 6
Take a look at your appetite. Are you experiencing strange food cravings, or do you suddenly have an aversion to certain foods? Changes in your appetite such as these can be a sign that you are pregnant.
-
Step 7
Take a pregnancy test. Home pregnancy tests can usually give you fairly accurate results a day or two after your period is late. The most accurate pregnancy test a woman can take is a blood test ordered by her doctor.
