Cajun Spice Mix is a blend of spices and herbs that gives an enjoyable and exciting quality to many cooked meats and fish. A staple of many Cajun dishes, Cajun Spice Mix also perks up soups and salads, and is especially good on rice dishes.

This salt-free Cajun Spice Mix is quick and easy to make, it tastes good, and it stores well.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 TBS Paprika
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp white pepper
  • 2 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tsp ground oregano
  • 1 tsp ground dried thyme
  • ½ tsp celery seed
  • ….
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Small spice jar or bottle for storage—preferably with a shaker lid AND a regular lid
  • Small kitchen funnel (optional)
  1. Step 1

Assemble your ingredients and the measuring spoons you will need. Make sure the storage bottle you will be using is clean and dry.

  2. Step 2

Measure each of the ingredients into a jar or bowl that has a tight-fitting lid. If you have a small kitchen funnel, you can use that to measure the Cajun Spice Mix ingredients directly into the spice jar you will be using for storage.

  3. Step 3

When all the ingredients are in the jar or bowl, put on the lid and shake until thoroughly blended. Transfer the Cajun Spice Mix into the storage spice jar (if you didn't use that initially).

  4. Step 4

Store the Cajun Spice Mix in an airtight container in a cool place, away from light, heat and moisture.

Tips & Warnings
  • An empty commercial spice bottle with both a shaker lid and a screw-on lid is great for storing (and using) the Cajun Spice Mix.
  • Use in any Cajun recipe that calls for Cajun Spice Mix. It also spices up soups, salads, rice…any food that needs a little extra zest.
