Having a cold is never fun. Whether you are sick or your kids, there are cold cures that do not involve drugs. Read on to learn how to cure a cold drug free.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Keep the nose lubricated.

Use a cool mist vaporizer or a saline nose spray. For babies and children that are too young to blow their own noses, use a nasal aspirator. Be sure not to use the nasal aspirator too much though. Limit its usage to 2 to 3 times a day to avoid more irritation.

  2. Step 2

    Give or eat some honey.

Honey helps to calm a cough. Give your children half a teaspoon of honey 30 minutes before bed. NOTE: honey is not safe for children less than 1 year old because of botulism spores.

  3. Step 3

    Enjoy an ice pop.

This serves to help on two accounts. One, it keeps you hydrated. And two, it cools a sore throat. Opt for 100% fruit juice ice pops because they have less sugar.

  4. Step 4

    Eat chicken soup.

Chicken soup has anti-inflammatory properties that can clear a stuffy nose and soothe a scratchy throat.

  5. Step 5

    Take a long hot shower.

The heat from the shower will help to open up your sinuses and clear out your nose.
