The majority of men will experience some form of erectile dysfunction or impotence in their lifetime for one reason or another. There are several causes of impotence and erectile dysfunction.

    Physical impotence may be caused by excessive alcohol usage, high blood pressure medications, medications that alter the nerve sensitivity and issues with the prostate.

    Diabetic impotence is a real concern for those who do not have their blood sugar levels under control. Diabetic impotence may cause trouble maintaining an erection or developing an erection due to a lack of circulation which supports healthy nerve tissue.

    Psychological causes of impotence include all types of mental illness, psychological problems, negative feelings.
