Things You'll Need:
- books
- internet
-
Step 1
First of all, you will need to collect your used books. Collect old college books, old books you will not be reading anymore, or outdated books that you keep for reference in the house. Then, ask people you know if they have any books they have lying around that they do not want.
-
Step 2
Another way to get used books (if you live in dorms) is to go through the dorms and often you will find books lying around next to trash cans as many students cannot take heavy books with them when they travel back home.
-
Step 3
Post an ad on CraigsList telling people that you will pick up their used books if they give them to you for free. Also look in the free section, many times garage left overs have books and the owners leave them on the curb, or are willing to give them to you for free as they did not sell at the garage sale.
-
Step 4
Depending on how dedicated you are, you can either list books on one website that you feel comfortable with such as Amazon, or list them on multiple websites.
-
Step 5
If you will be listing them on multiple websites, I suggest creating an Excel sheet or something similar so you keep them organized. Remove the book from other websites when it sells. You want to keep your feedback scores high so you can keep selling.
-
Step 6
I suggest listing your books at the cheapest price that is out there, this way they will sell fast and the price always goes down with time, so selling them as soon as you can benefits you. Keep in mind that people, most often, will buy the cheapest book listed unless they want a new book or are wary of people who do not have much feedback.
-
Step 7
If you want to beat all other sellers, then check these two websites to list your books at the cheapest price on the market: bookfinder.com and getcheapbooks.com These websites are also great if you see that your book on Amazon is not selling, for example. Check these sites and you might find out that on Half.com they are half the price and people are probably buying it from there.
-
Step 8
Sell books that have not sold for 3 months or so at a garage sale. Good luck!
