Step 1
Check with your doctor about the dry skin on your feet. Before you try to heal the dry skin on your feet at home it is important to check with your doctor to make sure that the dry skin on your feet is not a symptom of an underlying disease such as diabetes or circulation problems.
-
Step 2
Soak your feet in a bath of soap and warm water. Dry or cracked skin on your feet is probably due to general dryness, and soaking your feet in water is the first step in combating that dryness in the skin on your feet. Leave your feet in the soap and warm water bath for at least ten minutes so that the skin on your feet will be fully moisturized.
-
Step 3
Use a foot file to attack the dry and cracked skin on your feet. These callus reducing files can be found in your local drug store and they will help you to eliminate the dry and cracked skin on your feet and heels. Use them as directed and as often as possible to make sure that you are eliminating your dry skin buildup as fast as you can. Use your foot file diligently but gently, stripping away the dried skin and revealing the new layer of healthy skin beneath it.
-
Step 4
Use a heavy duty moisturizer on your feet. Apply the moisturizer at least twice a day. After each time you use your foot file you should apply a thick layer of moisturizer and then pull on a pair of socks to make sure that your feet soak up as much lotion as possible. If regular lotions that you can buy at the drug store are not working for you, consider asking your doctor to prescribe you a more intense lotion meant specifically for combating serious dry skin and calluses.
-
Step 5
Keep up your moisturizing regimen even after your feet are smooth and callus free. By moisturizing daily you can keep the dry skin on your feet from returning.
