If you are a fan of David Letterman and were wondering how you could get on his show...follow these easy steps to be part of his studio audience.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Location...David Letterman show is taped in New York City at the Ed Sullivan Theater at 1697 Broadway, between 53rd and 54th Streets. The show is taped Monday through Thursday about 10 months per year. The show tapes in the afternoon and is broadcast in the evening.

  2. Step 2

Tickets...FREE to persons over the age of 16! You must register on -line for tickets at www.cbs.com/late_night. There is a limit of 2 tickets per person and one request every 6 months. Sometimes you will get tickets in 2 months, sometimes 12 months. There are a limited amount of stand by tickets, call 212-247-6497, after 11am, and they will call you if seats become available. This will only work if you are in the city...because they only give you a short window of opportunity to show up at the theater. You can also try for in-person tickets by showing up at 9:30am and asking for tickets. Be prepared to present government photo ID when you present your ticket. Names must match in order to be allowed into the theater.

  3. Step 3

The show...Don't be late if you have tickets...they will give your seat away. Once inside the theater they will prep you for the experience. Sometimes they have contests to get everyone in the party mood. Wear bright clothes for the camera and smile and laugh on cue.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't show up drunk to the line...they won't let you in.
  • Be sure that you don't have on an offensive shirt or weird hat.
  • No backpacks ... there is a security check.
  • Wear a warm sweater, Dave likes the theater cool and it is freezing in the audience.
