Add Your Favorite Website to Firefox's Search Bar

Firefox is a great browser. One of it's most convenient features is the search bar, which allows users to instantly search through sites like Google and Wikipedia instantly. Firefox user's aren't limited to the default search engines. By following a few simple steps, you can add many of your favorite website's search engines to your search bar.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet Access
  • Firefox Browser
  1. Step 1
     

    With Firefox open, click the logo next to the search bar to bring down the list of search engines. Click on "Manage Search Engines."

  2. Step 2
     

    Click "Get more search engines..." This will open the "Add-ons for Firefox" page in your browser.

  3. Step 3
     

    Search for the website you want. When you find it, click the button that says "Download Now." A confirmation window will come up. Click the "Add" button. Optionally select the box next to "Start Using Right Away" to use that search option immediately.

  4. Step 4
     

    If the search engine you want isn't available on the Firefox Add-ons page, you may still be able to add the site to your bar. Navigate to that website by typing the URL into the navigation bar.

  5. Step 5
     

    Click the logo button next to the search bar and select "Add [WEBSITE]." That will instantly add the search engine to your list.

Tips & Warnings
  • In the "Manage Search Engines Screen" you can rearrange the order of the search engines according to your preferences.
