How to Make an Extra Moist Cake Every Time
There is no way to guarantee a cake will turn out moist every time. However, the best way to increase the likelihood of a moist cake is to add a package of dry pudding. Try to match the flavor of pudding with the cake. Chocolate with chocolate, vanilla with vanilla and so forth. The pudding will give the cake some extra weight and will increase the baking time. Grease the cake pan with oil and coat it in flour.

Follow the instructions on the cake batter box, but stir in the pudding powder.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Hold the cake pan with both hands and tap the bottom of the pan against the table or counter top firmly a few times. This will remove air pockets in the batter.

Place the cake pan on the middle rack and cook the cake for the time called for on the cake mix box. When that time arrives, stick a toothpick or butter knife straight into the center of the cake. If it comes out goopy, let it cook for a few more minutes. Check every 5 or so minutes until the the toothpick or butter knife comes out clean.

Remove the cake from the oven, lightly cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and allow to cool for a couple hours. Once cake is fully cooled it can be removed from the pan to decorate.

Gently slide a butter knife in between the cake and the pan to separate the cake from the pan sides. Hold the knife completely vertical it does not cut into the cake.

Flip the cake onto the plate or cookie sheet. Gently tap the bottom of the pan and the cake should fall out on its own.

Tips & Warnings
Try to match the flavor of pudding with the cake. Chocolate with chocolate vanilla with vanilla etc. In cases where you have a flavored cake like strawberry then your best option would be vanilla.
