Things You'll Need:
- 1" plain black or brown leather belt.
- Roller Cutter (found in craft section of store)
- Snap Fastener Kit (found in craft section of store)
- Exacto Knife Kit or Wood Burning Tool
- Cloth Measuring Tape
-
Step 1
Take the cloth measuring tape and measure the circumference of your wrist. Now measure this amount on the leather belt and mark it with a pencil. Test your measurement by wrapping the measured part around your wrist. If you need to you can make your measurement longer or shorter. Don't forget that you will be adding snaps to keep the bracelet closed so take this into account in your measurements.
-
Step 2
Now take the rotary cutter and cut the belt to your desired length. Be careful and don't cut yourself.
-
Step 3
Once you have your bracelet blank get your snap fastener kit. Follow the directions on the back of the kit and apply one or two snaps (depending on the width of the bracelet).
-
Step 4
Now it is time to add a design to the bracelet. Things you could add are your name, a Japanese kanji, or other meaningful symbol. Trace or free hand your design onto the bracelet.
-
Step 5
Your first option to make the design permanent is to use a wood burning tool. Use it to burn the design into the leather. You can also use this tool for shading as well.
-
Step 6
The other option to make the design permanent is by cutting it into the bracelet with an Exacto Knife. If you do this option then make sure to soak your leather bracelet. This will allow for the design to show better when the bracelet dries.
