How to Make A Veil
Weddings are expensive. From the dress to the reception, the expenses can really add up. One way you can save a little on your wedding is to make your own veil. These wedding accessories can be expensive if purchased at a boutique, but it only takes a few simple supplies to make one at home. When purchasing the tulle for your veil, make sure it is in the same shade of white as your dress. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Tulle that matches your dress
- Scissors
- Embellishments (optional)
- Clear plastic hair comb
- Fabric glue
- Needle and heavy thread
- Velcro (optional)

Cut the tulle to the length you want for your veil with very sharp scissors.

Embellish the veil with crystals, pearls or rhinestones, if desired. Lay the tulle out flat and equally space the chosen embellishments. Attach the embellishments with fabric glue. Remember that the top of the veil is gathered and the embellishments will appear closer together toward the top of the veil. Leave space at the top of the veil without embellishments to easily attach it to the comb.

Gather the top of the veil together and with heavy thread, sew it together so it can be attached to the comb.

Sew the veil to comb by looping the thread through the gathered part of the veil and looping it around the comb.

Tips & Warnings
If you are planning on removing your veil after the ceremony or replacing a long veil with a shorter one for the reception, you can add Velcro to the gathered part of the veil and to the comb. You can remove the veil from the Velcro and hide it with something like a tiara or replace the long veil with a shorter one without disturbing your hair.
