Attractive belts can be made with grosgrain ribbon, satin ribbon, ornate brocade to a nautical stripe ribbon. Even the skinny part of a silk tie can be used to make these lovely yet inexpensive belts.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 D-rings that are suitable for your ribbon's width.
  • Measure waist and add 10 inches. This will determine how much ribbon you will need.
  • Thread that matches the color of the ribbon
  • Sewing machine.
  1. Step 1

To make this belt, you will need to measure your waist or hips, depending where you want the belt to sit. Then you will need to add 10 inches. Cut the ribbon to twice that length, then fold the ribbon in half and pin the ribbon sides together. Starting at the folded edge, stitch neatly all the way around the edge of the ribbon, try to stay close to the edge of the ribbon.

  2. Step 2

Thread the cut end of the ribbon through the D-rings. Then fold the cut edge under 1/4 inch, then fold down about 3/4 inch to cover the D-rings. Secure them but not tightly.

  3. Step 3

Stitch across the length of the ribbon, enclosing the D-rings.
