Put a Shine on Your Shoes
Put a Shine on Your Shoes

For men and women, probably that part of our wardrobe we give least attention to are our shoes. Every day, we spend considerable time making sure we look good when we go out into the world, except when it comes to our shoes. This is particularly true of men. Keeping our shoes clean and shined should be as important a part of our daily ritual as wearing the right clothes or combing our hair. These simple steps will make it quick and easy to put a shine on your shoes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Soft Cotton rags
  • Shoe cleaner
  • Shoe Wax or Cream Polish
  • Shoe Brush
  • Traveling Shoe Kit (optional)
  • Shoe shine box (optional)
  1. Step 1

Start with a shoe cleaner you find in most shoe stores. You can choose a cream or a liquid. You can also use saddle soap. Use a dry cotton rag and rub the cleaner into the entire shoe. This will not only clean the shoe, but condition it. Let it dry as you do your other shoe, then using a clean rag, wipe the shoe clean using a rubbing motion.

  2. Step 2

The next step is to apply the polish. Shoe polish can be either wax or cream. Again, these can be found in most shoe stores. Apply the polish with a soft cotton rag and let it dry as you do your other shoe.

  3. Step 3

Use a good, soft shoe brush and brush your shoes until it produces a shine.

  4. Step 4

If you have one, you might want to use a shoe shine box so you can brush your shoes with your feet in them.

  5. Step 5

When traveling, it would be a good idea to take along a shoe cleaning kit.

on 11/15/2009 I agree,..., shoes are often overlooked and it gives a bad impression when they are scuffed up and dirty. It's worth a little time to get them looking good! Rated 5*
