1
Remove any debris or garbage in the can. While wearing rubber gloves, pull out the excess garbage and throw that away in another sack.

2
Keep the garbage can down in the driveway or in the street. This is to prevent the dirt and grime smell from lingering around your home. In roughly two days, the smell will subside. Pull your hose to the area and gather your cleaning materials.

Lay the garbage can on the side. While holding the can, spray inside with the hose. Pay close attention to the sides and bottom of the can. The water will splash out, so stand behind the opening. Spray thoroughly to remove any excess gunk.
-
4
Stand the garbage can upright. Take the nozzle off the all-purpose bacteria cleaner. Pour half the contents around the sides and onto the bottom of the can.
-
5
Fill the garbage can halfway full with water from the hose. Allow the can to soak for roughly 40 minutes.
-
6
Use the sponge to hand scrub the garbage can. Splash some of the water and cleaning solution around the top rim of the can. Begin scouring around the top part. Scrub in a circular motion around, moving downward. Rinse the sponge off frequently with the hose. Pour water out as you work your way down. Continue until you reach the base of the garbage can.
-
7
Pour the remaining water out of the garbage can. Lay it on the side again and rinse it out thoroughly. Allow the can to air dry for 24 hours before putting new garbage sacks inside.
-
8
Use a commercial odor eliminator spray on the can after it is dry.
