Hoover produces a line of deep-cleaning steam vacuum cleaners for the home known as the SteamVac line. These vacuum cleaners have the ability to remove some of the toughest stains from upholstery and carpets. Hoover SteamVac models include the F5914-900, F7411-900 and the Dual V. Before you call for service when a problem arises, try to troubleshoot your Hoover steam vacuum cleaner to pinpoint the issue using the following tips. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Check your power source if the machine won't run. This includes looking to see if the SteamVac is plugged in firmly into the wall and that the outlet is receiving power. If there is no voltage, check your household fuses and reset the circuit breaker.

    • 2

Empty the recovery tank of the Hoover SteamVac if the cleaner fails to pick up dirt. Once the tank is full, many Hoover models have an automatic shutoff that stops the cleaner. If this does not resolve the pickup issue, check the hoses of the machine and remove any blockages.

    • 3

Examine the water tank if water does not dispense from the SteamVac. It could be empty and in need of a refill, or you may not have locked the dispenser firmly in place. The detergent tank should also be looked at and filled if empty.

    • 4

Determine if the valve cap is clogged if detergent won't dispense from the Hoover cleaner. To remove clogs, unscrew the cap and then place it in hot water for at least 20 minutes. Once dry, screw the cap back in.

    • 5

Clean the filter screen at the bottom of the vacuum cleaner if the brushes fail to rotate while in use. To access the filter screen, place the machine on its side and pull the tab at the base of the unit. Wipe off the debris with a clean cloth.
