How to Use Wireless Internet on an Airplane

Airline carriers are now offering Wi-Fi during in-flight service. A company called Gogo is making many airline carriers Wi-Fi capable. Currently, AirTran, Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta, United Airlines and Virgin Airways are offering in-flight Internet Service. If the airline has Internet access, you will see a sign at the gate that promotes the airline as Wi-Fi capable.

      Power on your computer and look for a wireless signal called Gogo.

      Click on the "Gogo wireless signal" in your wireless connection manager and click "Connect." Your computer will attach itself to the Gogo wireless access point.

      Open your browser and it will automatically connect to Gogo's splash page. You must now purchase your Internet connection with a credit card. Gogo has several plans from which to choose.

      Choose the appropriate plan and once your credit card is validated, you will be connected to the Internet. You can now browse your favorite sites while enjoying some pretzels and a drink.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your phone is Wi-Fi capable, you can connect it to the Internet as well.
