The clutch master cylinder on a Toyota Supra controls the hydraulic fluid for the clutch system. Unlike many cable-driven systems, the Supra uses clutch fluid to operate the clutch. The fluid is essentially brake fluid and works on the same hydraulic principles as the Supra's brake system. When your clutch stops disengaging and it and your clutch master cylinder won't hold fluid, it is likely because the cylinder is leaking and needs to be replaced.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Mark the location and position of the clutch master cylinder lines with masking tape and permanent marker.

  2. Step 2

Place the oil catch pan underneath the clutch master cylinder to catch any fluid.

  3. Step 3

Remove the clutch fluid lines using a tube nut wrench. Turn the tube nut that connects the clutch fluid line to the clutch master cylinder counterclockwise to remove.

  4. Step 4

Separate the line from the clutch master cylinder by pulling the line out of the cylinder.

  5. Step 5

Remove the clutch cylinder to firewall mounting bolts.

  6. Step 6

Pull the clutch cylinder off the firewall.

  7. Step 7

Install the new clutch master cylinder. Installation is the reverse of removal.
