By making your own Easter basket you can create family memories that can never be erased. If you desire, you can decorate your finished basket with markers and crayons. Depending on the sturdiness of the paper selected to create your basket, you can also place small items inside of the basket and present it as a gift to someone you love.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut four pieces of construction paper so that each piece of paper measures 19 inches long by 25 inches wide. If you want your Easter basket to be sturdier, you can also choose card-stock paper, which can be purchased from your local office supply store. Cut another piece of construction paper that is 12 inches long by 3 inches wide to serve as a handle for the basket.

  2. Step 2

Fold the two horizontal ends of one of the pieces of construction paper. Each of the folds should extend 3 inches inward. Fold the other three pieces of construction paper in the same manner.

  3. Step 3

Place one of the pieces of construction paper on top of a second piece of construction paper. The end of the piece of paper that is on top should meet at the center of the piece of paper that is on the bottom. Fold the ends of the two pieces of construction paper upward to form two sides.

  4. Step 4

Use a staple machine to place a staple in each corner of the bottom of the basket. You should now have two sides for the basket and a foundation for the basket. Cut a slit at the bottom of each of the 3- inch folds for the sides of the basket. There should be a total of four slits.

  5. Step 5

Place the 3rd piece of construction paper from step 2 on top of the basket's foundation. The edge of the paper should meet with the edge of the foundation that has already been formed. Staple the construction paper to secure it to the foundation of the basket. Place the fourth piece of construction paper from step 2 on top of the basket's foundation. Staple the construction paper to secure it to the foundation.

  6. Step 6

Use a hole puncher to punch a small hole at the top of the third and fourth piece of construction paper. The holes should be made in the center.

  7. Step 7

Fold both ends of the third and fourth pieces of construction paper. The ends should be folded upward to form a third and fourth side for the basket.

  8. Step 8

Staple the insides of the basket together by folding in the sides that were slit in step 4.

  9. Step 9

Use a hole puncher to punch holes into each end of the handle that was made in step 1.

  10. Step 10

Attach the handle to the basket using paper fasteners.
