How to Put a Tire Back on a Wheelbarrow Rim
Most wheelbarrow tires do not have tubes. If the tire is flat, it might require air or the application of tire repair foam. A more significant repair, such as a punctured tire, may require you to remove the tire from the rim and replace it. With the aid of a few tools and a little elbow grease, you can easily put a new tire on the rim. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Large flat-head screwdriver
- Cargo strap
- Wheelbarrow tire
- Air pump or compressor
- Tire gauge
Instructions
-
-
1
Position the tire on the rim one bead at a time.
-
2
Wrap the cargo strap around the circumference of the tire and ratchet it tight.
-
-
3
Insert a screwdriver under the bead of the tire, using it as a lever to maneuver the tire and seal it to the rim.
-
4
Remove the strap after the tire beads form a seal around the rim.
-
5
Wipe dish soap over the line where the rim joins the tire. If there are gaps in the seal, the soap will begin to bubble.
-
6
Adjust the tire as needed to achieve a tight seal before inflating it.
-
7
Use a hand pump or an air compressor to inflate the tire to at least 30 pounds per square inch (psi). Check the pressure with a tire gauge.
