The removal process is not that difficult as other food colored beverages. Removing coffee & tea stains can be accomplished with some basic household products! If the stain has set in from long exposure then a chemical treatment might be necessary. But, most coffee and tea stains can be removed with immediate attention.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 Gallon Bucket / Hot Water
  • White Towel
  • Tide Laundry Detergent (Liquid - Color Safe)
  • Soft Bristle Brush (Agitation)
  • Spray Bottle
  1. Step 1

You will need to soak up as much of the coffee or tea as possible. Blot with the white cloth until the stain color disappears (from towel) from blotting. DO NOT RUB. At this point, the stain should be light enough to remove with laundry detergent.

  2. Step 2

Fill your bucket with hot water and pour 2 table spoons of liquid laundry detergent into bucket. Mix well.

  3. Step 3

Dip the soft bristle brush into the water solution and begin to agitate the stain lightly! Do not scrub the carpet! You will damage the carpet fiber. Apply gentle pressure and work in a circular motion... lightly! The white soap residue will begin to turn a dark brown from the spill. Blot dry with towel.

  4. Step 4

Fill the spray bottle with clean warm water. Use 4-5 sprays onto the stained area to rinse. Then blot dry. Continue this process until soap residue has disappeared. Continue the drying process until completely dry. At this point, the stain should be completely gone.
