- Box of blonde hair dye
- Rubber gloves
- Mirror
- Highlighting brush
- Shampoo
- Conditioner

Trim, wash and condition your hair the day before dying it. Avoid or limit the amount of styling products you put on your hair. It is necessary the hair and scalp is clean, prior to dying the hair.

Remove any tangles from your hair prior to beginning. Part your hair into four sections, use hair clips to keep unused portions of the hair out of the way.

Put on rubber gloves prior to mixing the hair dye. Mix the color and peroxide in a pointed-tip applicator bottle. Shake the bottle well to blend the mixtures. If your hair is a darker color or gray use a higher-volume peroxide to lift the hair several shades. The peroxide can be found at any beauty supply store.

Apply the mixture to the roots of your hair in the unused section using a highlighter brush. Continue to do this for the remaining three sections. The roots of the hair are usually the darkest part of the hair. After applying the mixture to the roots, use the remaining mixture on the length of the hair. Read the manufacturer's instructions for the length of time the dye should be left on the hair.

Rinse your hair with lukewarm water until the water runs clear. Use shampoo to remove any dye residues from your scalp and condition your hair.
