Step 1
The first step to this is don’t let your child sleep in bed with you and it won’t become a problem. But if your reading this it is probably too late for that.
-
Step 2
Now the first few nights are the hardest. The first night my daughter slept in her own room I laid down with her until she fell asleep. Once she was asleep I climbed out and went to my own bed to enjoy the extra space.

Step 3
The second or third night go sit down with your child and read them a book or tell them a story. Then tell them goodnight and turn on a night light and walk out of the room. Your child may cry and scream but don’t let that be a reason to put them back in bed with you. If your child is still crying after 5 minutes go and sit beside them and tell them they need to go to bed by themselves give them a hug and kiss and tell them good night. After letting them cry for a while go back and tell them good night and send them to bed again. This may get frustrating but it takes time.

Step 4
Within a week your child should be use to going to bed by themselves and you shouldn’t have a problem.
