How to Make a Mojito

So, you love the sight of a refreshing mojito cocktail? Now you can learn how to make a professional, resort style mojito for yourself, family, and friends.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fresh Mint Leaves
  • Ice
  • White Rum
  • Limes
  • Sugar Cane Juice
  • Bitters
  • Club Soda
  1. Step 1

First, the trick to an excellent mojito is making sure that it isn't over sweetened or unbalanced. Start by crushing up 5-7 mint leaves, 2-4 drops of bitters, and 2-4 lime quarters in the bottom of a tall glass, preferably a tall mojito glass. The crushing of the mint is often called "muddling" so you would "muddle" the mint leaves.

  2. Step 2

Fill the glass up with a generous amount of ice. Make sure your ice is purified, good quality ice is important. Don't use tap water ice in trays, no bueno.

  3. Step 3

Next, add 2 ounces of the rum. If you are like me, you can add 4-6 ounces of rum - Most guests would prefer the traditional and "bar regulated" "2" ounces however. :)

  4. Step 4

Fill the rest of your glass with the sugar can juice, otherwise known as guarapo and top off the rest with some club soda.

  5. Step 5

Pour everything into a martini shaker and shake the heck out of it so it is nice and ice cold. It is then typically served with a lime garnish, sugar cane stick, and a straw.
