How to Select Modest Dresses

Modest clothing does not mean that your wardrobe is restricted to wearing unfashionable sacks dresses. Dressing in attire that is not modest will attract attention. This attention may not be positive or misplaced.

No one in the office place, school, or other professional environment is going to listen to what you are saying if you are displaying all of your assets continuously. Excessive cleavage, sheer tops, and thigh bearing skirts attracts attention.

1. Find a clothing store with a good selection of modest dresses. These dresses will go at least to the knee. Look for styles that cover the knee cap or at the shortest show the knee cap itself. Avoid short skirts and dresses that are tunic length. When shopping online look for the measurement of the length of the dress from the waist.

2. Choose modest dresses that flatter your figure. Look for dresses that accentuate the smallest part of your body. This could be under the bust or the waist area. If you are apple shaped, look for modest apparell that creates a waist with scarves or belts.

3. Make dresses and all clothing more modest by wearing slips, camisoles, tights, or sheer stockings. Layer spagetti strapped dresses with shrugs, large scarves, cropped jackets, or tailored jackets.

   Avoid panty lines and bra bulges by investing in good underwear. Wear the underware daily under your modest apparell.

   Tailor. You are the inventor of your own personal modest style. If a skirt is too long, tailor it to hit where you feel comfortable. Wear slips that have lace on the bottom that are meant to be seen if a skirt or dress has a split or is border line too short. Add lace or other embelishments to the bottom of skirts to extend the length.
