Step 1
To eat less every day the first step you can take is to keep unhealthy foods that you have trouble resisting out of the house. If you have foods that you can not resist such as cake, donuts, or ice cream the best way to avoid them is just to not have them in your home at all, this way even if you get a craving you do not have immediate access to these foods. If you have trouble resisting these foods using this method than you can take it one step further. Write down what aisle in the grocery store these foods you can't resist are in, and then avoid walking down these aisles when you are at the grocery store.

Step 2
The second step to eating less is to measure out your portion sizes. Many foods come with more than one serving in the container. So if you eat even a small bag of food you may have eaten 2 or 3 servings. The only way to make sure you eat a single serving is to measure out a single serving of the food you are eating, and then you will put it in a plastic bag. Serving sizes are printed on the container that foods come in, so read the serving size and then portion yourself a single serving. Eat only what you have measured out into the plastic bag that way you can guarantee you are only eating a single serving of food.

Step 3
The third step to eating less is to add protein to your diet. Protein is digested slowly by your body so it makes you feel fuller longer. Protein also helps build muscle and muscle burns fat, so eating protein is important if you are trying to lose weight. Adding foods such as egg whites, beans, and low fat cottage cheese will boost your protein intake and help you feel fuller longer.

on 9/15/2009 Step 2 is so important! Measuring is the best way to get an accurate read of how much you're really eating.
