Steps for Making Crafts
-
1
Decide on an idea. This is perhaps the most difficult part of making a craft. Perhaps the best way to get started is to create a gift for something. Think about something they would like and start by making that. For instance, a small child would like a handmade doll.
-
2
Choose the materials. Whether your craft is for function or decoration, the materials should be able to withstand the wear and tear it will encounter. If a doll is being created, think about what type of fabric is sturdy, yet soft enough for a small child.

Before beginning, think about all the necessary elements needed to create the craft, as far as sewing and gluing Make sure you have the materials to complete each step before beginning. Create a clean surface with a disposable protective covering such as a piece of paper or plastic. Outline the steps prior to beginning.

Make the craft. Using the outline you have created, begin with the first step. Follow each step and keep yourself open to changing the order if necessary. Intuition can be helpful when making handmade items. Make sure to allow each step the appropriate amount of time. If you are gluing items together, let the glue dry before moving to the next step. Don't rush the process--enjoy it.

Finish the craft. Once the craft has been made, examine the item to make sure it looks complete. Adding details with paint can really enhance and complete an item.
