How Can I Pay Bills Online?

Paying bills online is fast and simple. With this method you do not have to worry about stamps or mail processing times. You pay directly to your creditor by using your bank debit card, prepaid debit card, credit card or checking account. You do not have to set up online bill pay. Just visit your creditor website whenever your bill is due to make a payment.

      Using your computer and internet access, enter your creditor url address in the address bar. The url begins with www. Find this on your bill or call your creditor for its website address. Entering the url will take you to your creditor website.

      Register your account on your creditor website (if required). Most creditors will ask you to register your account as this will save your payment method information for the next time you want to pay your bill online, cutting down even more time. Provide your name, address, Social Security number and account number (this varies by creditors).

      Click on payment options or pay bill now. This will also vary by creditors as well; however, the bottom line is that you will see something on your creditor website that says, "Pay." Clicking on this will allow you to enter your payment information.

      Enter your payment information and the amount you wish to pay. Most creditors will allow you to use your checking account, debit card, or credit card. If using your checking account, provide your bank routing number and your checking account number. The bank routing number is always nine digits and can be found at the bottom of your check. If using a credit or debit card, provide your 16-digit card number. Provide your card expiration date, which can be found on the front of your card. In addition, you might have to provide your CVV code, also known as your security code, which is on the back of your card. It is three digits and is found on the far right side on the back of your card.

  • If you do not want to have recurring payments taken out automatically every month or when your bill is due, make sure there is not a check mark in the recurring payment box. Pay your bill two to three days before it is due to allow time for processing.
