How to Make Sicilian Pizza

Sicilian pizza is original to Palermo, Italy. What makes the difference in the Sicilian Pizza is that the cheese is placed under the sauce. The shape of a Sicilian pizza is usually square and not round.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pizza dough
  • Olive Oil
  • Anchovies
  • Tomato Sauce
  • Italian Seasoning
  1. Step 1

    Pre- heat the oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Step 2

    To make this a really easy recipe you should buy the Pizza dough. It has to be fresh as Pizza dough can not be frozen and than used. Roll the dough into a square shape, it should be about 1"thick. Sicilian Pizza should be made in a foil pan.

  3. Step 3

    Lightly coat the dough with Olive oil.

  4. Step 4

    Now spread provolane cheese over the dough, The cheese should be cut into medium slices. Be generous with the cheese.

  5. Step 5

    Sprinkle Italian seasoning.

  6. Step 6

    Spread the tomato sauce over the cheese. Make sure you do it evenly and do not use a lot of sauce.

  7. Step 7

    Add Anchovies. These should be in a paste, add to taste.

  8. Step 8

    Sprinkle the Pizza with cheese again, this time the preferred cheese should be grated

  9. Step 9

    Sicilian Pizza does not usually take anymore toppings, but if you want add pepperoni, and put in the oven for about 15 minutes.

  • When ever possible use fresh ingredients.
