The HTC Touch HD cell phone is basically a mini-computer. Much like your PC, you need to occasionally reset or reboot your phone if the device is acting slow or odd. You might also need to perform a soft reset to restart the phone when it is frozen. With a soft reset, there is no need to back up the data or settings on the phone because this procedure will not erase any data.
Things You'll Need
Flip your HTC Touch HD over and remove the battery case that is located on the back of the phone. The battery case should easily slide off with a little force.
Remove the stylus and use it to depress the "Reset" button. Alternatively, something small such as an unwound paper clip or flat toothpick could be used.
Identify and press the "Reset" button with the stylus. This is a small button located next to the SIM card slot. After pressing the Touch HD's reset button, the device will restart and you should see the home screen.
Tips & Warnings
- If the HTC Touch HD is still acting up, consider performing a hard reset. This will erase all of the data in the phone and reset it to factory settings, so backup the phone before doing this.
- If a soft and hard reset do not do the trick, take the Touch HD to your dealer for service/replacement.
