Things You'll Need:
- Someone to practice the routine with
- Time and patience
-
Step 1
Every once in a while we meet someone who is just plain difficult to work with. Maybe it is that the two personalities do not mesh, or that plain and simple the person is the office bully. Here are some suggestions that just may help your work day go a little bit smoother.
-
Step 2
First try and identify with why the person may be at you constantly. Are you a threat to them, (even if only in their eyes)It can be a serious problem. Once you have determined what may be causing the problem it's time to address it, head on.
-
Step 3
Take the person aside,(never address this sort of thing in public)Explain that you feel some dissention between you two and that if you did anything to offend them, tell them you are sorry, and that maybe you got off on the wrong foot and would like to start over.
-
Step 4
Sometimes this is all it will take to make an ally out of an enemy, other times, not so easy. If the problem still persists, contact your supervisor and let them know there is a problem. Also, document the date and time you spoke with the individual so your supervisor knows that you have tried to settle this on your own.
-
Step 5
Most importantly, never discuss the behaviour of this person with anyone else but them and your supervisor. Chances are this is not the first time the individual has been a problem and the supervisor will know this. Last but not least, always be the kind one, never antagonize the situation and be the example of how to be a better employee.
