Winter is upon us soon. This will be the best time to weatherproof your house. One more thing, don't forget your pets. It is time to weatherproof your dogs houses as well.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

If you have one of the large, plastic dog houses with the tops on them, there are several things to do to keep them warm and dry in Winter.
Check for any leaks. If there are any leaks, you can fix it then. If you keep your dog's house full of straw or cedar chips, this is the time to change it out. The dogs will love you for this. It's like getting a new set of sheets.

  2. Step 2

If you use dog pillows inside the dog house, take it out and see if it needs cleaning or replacing. If it is not too dirty, you can wash it off with a hose. If it is too dirty, then replace it with a new one. Every year it seems that they make better, more comfortable ones.

  3. Step 3

If your dog house has a flap door on the front, make sure that it is not torn. Most of these door flaps are made of heavy, clear plastic... and they can become old and cracked or torn. Replace it if needed.
If you live in the North, you may want to place a little light bulb inside the dog house to keep the dog warmer. I would suggest only doing this during the day so you can keep an eye on it.
