Things You'll Need:
- red pajamas or one-piece suit
- white felt
- black marker or black fabric paint
- blue hair spray
- hair gel
-
Step 1
Cut a circle of about 6-8 inches in diameter out of the felt. Use a 6-inch circle for a small child costume, or a larger circle for a larger costume.
-
Step 2
Using the fabric paint or marker, write Thing along the top edge of the circle. Then write a 1 (or 2) in the center of the circle. Make sure the paint is dry before continuing to step 3.
-
Step 3
I used a double layer of felt to cover the image on the red suit.Pin the felt circle to the chest of the red suit. Carefully sew the felt circle in place. Hot glue or fabric glue can also be used.
-
Step 4
Using hair gel, spike the child's hair up in all directions. Make sure to use enough gel so the hair will stay crazy. Cover the child's eyes, and carefully spray their hair until it is all completely blue. For best results, spray thin layers until you get the desired color.
-
Step 5
The costume is complete!

on 10/14/2009 Now the tricky part: getting my son to not want to be the Terminator and instead be 'thing 1'. Nice article that I hope my sons will let me use.
