Snagit is a software program that allows you to take a screen shot of anything on your computer. It is highly customizable, and every screen shot you save is automatically stored. You can go back into the program at any point and review your screen shots. Furthermore, you have the ability to create multiple profiles as well as convert images to different types, such as JPG, PNG, GIF and BMP.

Instructions

1. Download a free trial of Snagit from http://www.techsmith.com/download/snagittrial.asp. After you install the software with the simple wizard, you are ready to begin taking screen shots.

2. Open Snagit 9 from your Start menu.

3. 

   You have four profiles to capture images: Region, Windows, Full Screen, Scrolling. For the purposes of this tutorial, we will use Region because it is the most useful. You can explore the advanced features of Snagit once you get the basics down.

4. 

   Click the red capture button and your computer cursor changes into a hand that allows you to draw a rectangle around anything you see on the computer screen. Once you draw the rectangle and the screen capture is complete, it automatically saves it for you to view later. You can take hundreds of screen shots and tag them later. You never have to worry about losing any screen shot you take.

5. Now that you have the basics of working with Snagit, begin to explore the advanced features, such as creating movies with Snagit, and editing images with callouts. The possibilities are endless once you get comfortable with the basics.
