How to Share Internet Without a Modem

With the invention of the wireless Internet connection and Wi-Fi routers, it became possible to connect to the Internet without a modem. For example, you can use the wireless networking card on your PC (either external or built-in) to connect to the free Wi-Fi network in some coffee shops. The cafe is connected to the Internet via a modem, and customers use wireless connection to the Wi-Fi router, which, in turn, is connected to the modem.
Similar methods can be used to share your Internet connection with a friend or a neighbor in the same apartment building, provided you have a Wi-Fi router installed. All your friend or neighbor has to to do is to connect to your Wi-Fi and then enjoy surfing the net without a modem.

Things You'll Need:

• Wi-Fi router
• Wireless networking card

1. Click on the "Start" menu and choose "Connect To." A list of available networks is displayed in a window. Your friend will need to know the name of your network.

2. Click on the network you want to connect to, and then click "Connect."

3. Enter the password when prompted. If you have protected your Wi-Fi network with a security password to protect unauthorized entry, you will have to supply your friend with it.

4. Click on "Connect" again to establish the connection.
