How to Make a Kids Bed

Making the bed is often one of the first household chores we learn as children. It not only makes the room look cleaner, but it can add discipline, as well. Depending on how old your kids are, their beds may look like a disaster as soon as they wake up. One way to get them into a habit of making their bed is doing it for them, and then assigning it as a duty. Teaching your kids how to make a bed is something that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

Instructions

    • 1

Set all pillows and stuffed animals aside. Push all layers except the fitted bedsheet to the bottom of the bed. Readjust the mattress cover if it is coming off. Remove all sheets except the first one if they have become undone and are in a mess.

    • 2

Take the first bedsheet closest to the mattress and extend it toward head of the bed. Make sure that all sides of the sheet covers the four corners of the mattress. If the bed is near a wall, tuck in the sheet on that side. Tuck the bottom end under the mattress if your child prefers it.

    • 3

Continue to extend and straighten out the rest of the layers of sheets, making sure that they are all evenly spread along the bed. Tuck in the sides and bottom parts of the sheets, if desired.

    • 4

Take the last and heaviest blanket and straighten it out so that it covers all of the sheets beneath it. Once everything is straight and even, flip the underlying sheets at the head of the bed over the last blanket. This will add a more aesthetic appeal and make it easier to get underneath the blankets at bedtime.

    • 5

Place the pillows on top of the bed and arrange accordingly. Tuck in any blankets that are still sticking out.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may have to slightly move the bed to be able to tuck the sheets that are next to the wall. Make the bed in front of your child so he understands how to do it himself.
