Bentonite is a type of nutritional supplement used to help the body get rid of potentially harmful substances. Manufacturers claim that taking bentonite can detox the body of pesticides and other chemicals. And while many people take it to cleanse their bodies, keep in mind that it has not been approved for that use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. You should also speak to your doctor before using bentonite.
Things You'll Need
- Bentonite supplement
Purchase bentonite from a nutritional-supplement retailer such as GNC or buy the product online. For instance, mothernature.com sells bentonite by the manufacturer Yerba Prima.
Add 1 tablespoon of bentonite to a flavored drink or juice to help mask its slightly unpleasant flavor. Take the first dose of the supplement in the morning when you wake up.
Continue to take bentonite throughout the day, adding 1 tablespoon to a beverage every hour.
To prevent dehydration, make sure you drink at least eight to 10 8-ounce glasses of water per day while doing the cleanse. It is also a good idea to eat light foods in case the supplement upsets your stomach.
Once you're finished with your cleanse, consume one dose of bentonite with a beverage each morning before breakfast for several days.
