Getting Started
In getting started it is important to remember that the sooner you get to the stain, the better chance you will have of getting it out.
Upon discovering the stain take a damp towel and gently blot the stained area. It is important that you don't immediately start scrubbing at the stain, this may cause it to further saturate your carpet. -
Step 2
Store Bought Stain Eliminators
Consider purchasing a store bough stain eliminator. To find out which one is the best, consider conducting some quick online research to find reviews and product ratings. A few of the top carpet stain removers include products such as Oxyclean, Stanley Steemer Stain remover, and OxyPro. Upon purchasing such a product, simply follow the instructions on using that particular product to remove your stain. -
Step 3
Homemade Stain Removers
If your stain is fresh and you don't have time to head down to the store, consider making your own stain remover. One great homemade carpet stain remover includes the following: White Vinegar and Baking Soda. Mix enough baking soda and vinegar together until it achieves the consistency of a thick paste. Apply the paste to your stain with a tooth brush and let sit until it is completely dry. Remove the dried paste with a vacuum cleaner. This should take care of your stain with about 1-3 treatments.
Note: Always remember to avoid using soaps when trying to get a carpet stain out. -
Step 4
